Workshop for the collaborative creation and production of an interactive installation, designed to create a symbiotic connection between the Madrid community and the Máquina Orgánica exhibition at Teatros del Canal.
Teatros del Canal, together with the Máquina Orgánica exhibition, invited students and people interested in the arts, humanities, sciences, and technology to participate in a workshop for the joint creation and production of an interactive installation. The aim was to establish a symbiotic relationship between the community of Madrid and the aforementioned exhibition at Teatros del Canal.
The workshop included the collective creation of an interactive installation, TechAlelopatía: Rito sonoro(TechAlelopathy: Sound Ritual).
It began with a conceptualization and training process focused on the visualization and sonification of data from plants.
During the first three sessions, participants focused on the conceptualization and training necessary for the production of the installation. The final two sessions were devoted to the execution and assembly of the interactive work.
Those selected had the opportunity to collaborate in an environment of creative experimentation, exploring the interaction between technology and nature. Topics covered included ecology, biotechnology, symbiosis, evolution, and the interrelationship between technology and nature.
The mediation team was made up of artists, technologists, and cultural managers: Joaku De Sotavento, Alfredo Miralles, Fabiola Simonetti, and Fernando Fernández.
The workshop was divided into two phases: three days of training and conceptualization (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), during which a common theoretical and technical language was developed, followed by two days of intense production in which the interactive installation that formed part of the Máquina Orgánica exhibition was created as part of the Canal Connect 2023 festival.
The training sessions focused on the following aspects: data visualization through the interaction of OSC with Resolume Arena (Fabiola Simonetti), data sonification with Touch Designer, Ableton Live, and Biodata Sonification (Fernando Fernández), and interactivity architecture (Joaku De Sotavento).
The workshop took place from March 15 to 19, and the installation created during the workshop was exhibited as part of the Organic Machine exhibition at the Canal Connect 2023 festival.
