Biotic symphony at in.jer.to: non-festival in Torre del Mar

Last June, Sinfonía biótica took part in the in.jer.to festival, held in Torre del Mar, in the province of Málaga. The proposal came thanks to MolinoLab, which presented the project in two parts: an immersive and interactive installation and a live performance.

Interactive installation: the secret language of plants

In the first part, the audience was able to approach an interspecies installation that proposed a dialogue between the plant and digital worlds. A structure designed in 3D and printed with recycled filament housed three living plants.

Using sensors, the electrical impulses generated by the plants were transformed into sound lines that functioned as instruments within a constantly changing composition. At the same time, these signals modified a virtual environment —a digital replica of real spaces constructed using the Gaussian splattingtechnique producing visual variations linked to the biological pulse.

The experience was also collective: an organic interface allowed the audience to intervene by touching different objects, adding their participation both in terms of sound and alterations to the virtual scene.

Raw sap: the power of life in action

The second proposal came in the form of a performance. Under the title Savia bruta(Raw Sap), MolinoLab offered several showings during the night of June 6 at the Tres Puertas cultural space. There, the audiovisual experimentation unfolded live, charged with energy, reinforcing the connection between the natural and the technological.

With these two interventions at the festival, Sinfonía biótica showed how art can become a meeting place between species, where plants, humans, and virtual environments collaborate in the same creative process.

Savia Bruta is a multidisciplinary, interspecies performance that transports us to a futuristic reality where humanity, trapped in routine and automatism, has unknowingly ceded its autonomy to plants. These plant entities, in apparent stillness, have woven a secret network of reciprocity: in exchange for allowing humans to dream—the only space where they can still experience freedom—they lead them into their own dreams. In these dreamlike landscapes, humans become emissaries of plant life, traveling through symbolic worlds and wild memories to fulfill an urgent mission: to find a crack in the asphalt of the world, a fissure through which life can emerge.

Fusing dance, visual art, plant electrical impulses, interactive devices, and live music, Savia Bruta unfolds a sensory ritual where the boundaries between species, sleep and wakefulness, cement and roots dissolve. An evocation of the resilience of greenery and a call to remember that, even in the most barren settings, life persists.

It was a great pleasure for us to share with the festival team. We were welcomed like family and felt right at home.

Special thanks to the 3 Puertas team for their welcome, support, and trust.
