Driadi, premiere at Sala Tarambana during Surge Madrid

It is a theater/performance project developed within the Surge Madrid 2024 Festival.

This piece, created by Carlotta Storelli, Salomé Méndez Morales, and Fernando Fernández Sánchez, reflects on the rebirth of life and other ways in which the environment can renew itself, interact, and coexist. It is a tribute to the strength and transformative power that emerges from the fusion between the natural and the man-made.

In this piece, plants are co-creators of the work, performing the soundtrack created live and modifying the digital environments.

The set design is created digitally through point cloud projections of real spaces that have been previously digitized, transporting the audience to different dreamlike spaces where the play unfolds.

The play premiered on October 3 and 4, 2024, at the Sala Tarambana in Carabanchel, Madrid, as part of the 2024 edition of the Surge Madrid festival.

Synopsis

In a post-apocalyptic scenario, after a devastating storm that has transformed the world as we know it, life begins to reemerge in unexpected ways. An electro-organic creature born from the fusion of technology and nature, an entity that embodies the symbiosis between the organic and the mechanical, seeks to recover the missing pieces of its own being.

DRIADI is a poetic, visual, and auditory inter-species journey, where different non-human organisms are co-creators of the piece; of the soundtrack and the visuals generated live, creating new symbiotic ecosystems.

This work weaves a narrative that invites reflection on the rebirth of life and the new ways in which the environment can regenerate, communicate, and coexist, a tribute to resilience and the transformative power of harmony between the natural and the artificial.
